Early Summer Decor (blog hop)

Hey there Friend!

I wanted you to have some early summer fun - so…as I have been asked to be a part of a blog hop with several other designers/home decor bloggers - the bonus is - YOU also get to be a part of it! You are welcome to hop over to the next one at the end of this, and keep on going to see some great inspiration and ideas. If you are coming over from Libby from @alifeunfolding, welcome! Libby has a fun and fresh approach to decor!

First of all, if you have been like me, there’s been a flurry of activity, i.e., graduations, misc. events, etc. SOOO, I’m just here to tell you mine is more of a K.I.S.S. approach this time around! (Keep it Simple Sweetie!)

TRAVEL TABLESCAPE:

Travel Tablescape using a collectible car and Scrabble pieces

Another pic - overview (I still kept my spring place settings!)

Born out of garage diving at my own house, I found this super cool car my husband was gifted through a tire dealer (he’s an ops manager for a huge family tire co). So, I told him I was swiping it. Then I found a great summery fabric at a decorator fabric store in High Point which became my table runner. Borrowing some other things from other rooms in my home such as scrabble pieces, and the small topiaries, etc., my “Holiday Road” tablescape was born. It brings back great memories of traveling so many great places as a child, and with our own children. Our "Chevy Chase Wagon" was a station wagon that held 2 adults, 5 children and a dog!

On a side note, in looking for some other ideas for this project, I came across the “miniature” section of Hobby Lobby where I enjoyed looking at all the tiny things in that sweet section.

DOOR DECOR:

Being more of a minimalist, I often will be creative and only allow myself to purchase a little bit new each season, but in this case I did go all out for this wreath. It was time for a new one, and I wanted it to have a little shot of happy, so I purchased and added some lemons! Thanks to Hobby Lobby and Michaels for the wreath and flowers, and Dollar General for the ribbon, I was happy with the final results. All floral was on sale, but not the lemons.

My purchases also included a grapevine wreath, as they hold up to the outdoor elements quite well. After wiring everything on, and completing, I sprayed with a few thin coats of clear coat to protect.

Below - the basic ingredients - "before"

Then I added the ribbon I had made.

Ta-Da! The final product!

Next, our back deck and around the pool area can get really HOT, so an outdoor rug is a must. Mine came from Home Depot - and it tied colors of our current cushions, etc, together. I roll it up and bring it in when we are done outside for the day.

Also the Home Depot topiary (on the metal stand above - hard to see) is one I bring outside when we have gatherings.

Lemonade and Lemon cookies - eat them quick before they melt!

Also the Home Depot topiary, is one I bring outside when we have gatherings. Although it's hard to see in the pic, mine was under $30 and was a two-ball live one.

I loved getting this super cute aluminum tray from Pop Shelf for $5, and the lemon cookies from Deweys (I love Deweys!) and added a thin lemon-almond icing on top! Adding in the faux fiddle leaf fig tree from the Dollar Tree ($5) gave it a pop of greenery. The outdoor pillows I got about 2 years ago from Walmart when prices were better :).

Well, that’s about it for my short blog for the month, but I’m sure you will enjoy reading on to the others, if you want! Oh! And before I forget, through end of July, I'm dropping my consultation fee back to $297 from my $325 plus if you sign up for an additional Designer for a Day Package, you will get an additional 30 minutes for FREE. Just mention you saw in in June Blog for the "stagflation" price break!

ALSO - Next stop on the blog hop tour is Tracy with @justtracytalk. I hope you enjoy the blog hop!

Love all the ideas you shared today, but your Vacation vignette on your table has me singing “holiday road” right now! Also, what a great tip to spray a wreath with clearcoat. I’ve never heard of doing that until now and it’s brilliant! Pinned!
